Message from the Chairman

I am grateful to the public for voting me onto the Muxton Ward of Donnington & Muxton Parish Council, and to my fellow Councillors, for electing me as Chairman of the Parish Council for the 2023/24 term.

I do not take these responsibilities lightly, and will pledge to work wholeheartedly in the best interests of the public to ensure Donnington & Muxton Parish Council keep our community safe, maintain good communications with our residents, provide facilities to improve the health and wellbeing of our community, and improve community resilience.

I would like to thank the council staff for all their hard work to date, and thank the previous Chairman for his steady and active stewardship of the Council, most of which goes unnoticed and quietly happens in the background in a selfless manner.

Looking forward, in this council year, we will launch a new fitness track for residents - funded by Sport England and developed by the Parish Council and our Electors Meeting - on the 8th June. We also have the second year of our annual trip to Llandudno on 20th July. This year’s Christmas Festival will be on the 25th November, and the annual Over 60’s Christmas Dinner will be on the 4th and 5th December.

Aside from all the fantastic events locally, we will continue to reach out to communities through our services such as the Donnington Snug, Coffee Mornings at Turreff Hall and Councillor Surgeries. Turreff Hall and Donnington Library are potentially going to benefit from some major visual improvements, with the building being revitalised. Council staff are currently working hard to make this project happen.

For me personally, I would like every resident to know that we are here to support them and that they can contact me, their Councillors and the Parish Council, with any questions or issues, and we will happily do all that we can to address their enquiries.

As with the ambitions of our new King, I am encouraging everyone to volunteer where possible. We have so many opportunities in this Parish to volunteer, and we always need more people to help where possible. We are aiming to set up an afterschool young person’s service for people aged 16-19, and we would like to hear from anyone who can help with this.  We also have community café volunteer roles, as well as library support volunteer roles, so please do contact us to discover more about these opportunities. Volunteering is an important role in a community, and we would be grateful for your involvement, no matter how small.

And finally, as I said earlier, my aim is to support everyone I can, and I encourage all Councillors to do this too, and to do this as a team at all times, promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct when they are acting in their capacity as a Councillor. I look forward to embracing my role with integrity, and to delivering an inclusive approach to the local community.

Donnington & Muxton Parish Council
