Donnington and Muxton Parish Council was saddened to announce that one of its longest-serving Councillors, Mrs Elizabeth Clare,
passed away peacefully on Saturday 4th January 2020. Liz became a Councillor in May 1979 and has represented Donnington not only as a Parish Councillor but also as a Borough Councillor. She also served as a Governor for local schools.
Liz constantly fought to get the best for the residents of Donnington and was completely dedicated to her responsibilities as a Councillor representing her electorate. She was not afraid to express her opinions which was very admirable, did what she thought was right and stuck to her views. Liz had worked at the Ordnance Depot in Donnington before retiring and continued to work hard as a Parish and Borough Councillor. To many Councillors she was a special Councillor and a good ambassador to learn from. She was formidable and straight talking and served Donnington well. Her participation in debates at Parish Council meetings, where she pulled no punches, will be greatly missed.
In her honour, it has been agreed to name Donnington and Muxton Community Library “The Liz Clare Library” and name a street in Donnington after her.
