Christmas Festival Success

December 9, 2021

On Sunday the 28th of November Donnington and Muxton Parish Council held it’s annual Christmas Festival and Lights switch on. Despite stormy weather the day before and freezing temperatures on the day of the event, the festival experienced it’s biggest turn out yet.

People were arriving from the moment it started and were still dancing at the stage until the minute it finished.

Boxer Liam Davies switched on the Christmas Lights alongside our Chairman, Councillor Thomas Hoof.

Liam used to box at Donnington Boxing Club and he has recently secured his first belt, the vacant English bantamweight title, with a punch-perfect display against Sean Cairns at Wembley’s SSE Arena. The Parish Council is proud of his incredible achievement and thrilled that he was a part of our switch on this year.

The local children dived on to the free funfair rides, free bouncy castle, free rodeo reindeer and loved the free face-painting. Telford Priory School Choir attended and sang some wonderful, festive carols. The Little Theatre also dropped by to perform some of this years pantomime, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ (get tickets here). With many local singers and bands also playing live music, the atmosphere was fantastic and the stallholders were very busy.

Even Santa took a break from his busy schedule to meet with the local children and BATMAN swooped by from Gotham City to get involved too! (Raising £150 for Children with Cancer).

We even had a special unplanned surprise mid-event…real snow!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible. Bring on next year’s event!
